Special Tours at the Disney Parks

The Disney Parks are just so big that it seems like there will never stop being things to learn about them. New features and attractions are added all of the time.  Today we’re going to take a look at one unique aspect of the park: tours.  Disney World offers all sorts of special year-round and seasonal tours, but it also has something called the VIP tour. The VIP tour isn’t what it might immediately sound like: it’s not a special behind-the-scenes, comprehensive look at Disney World.  Instead, it’s a service that will transport you around the park to the attractions … Continue reading

Special Offers at Aulani, Disney’s Hawaii Resort

As winter approaches (or does more than approach, slamming some parts of the country with storms), we already want to turn our thoughts toward spring.  While there’s nothing we can do to make the months go by faster, perhaps what we can do is avoid the cold weather for a while by vacationing somewhere warm.  A dream vacation for many is Hawaii, and for Disney fans, that can mean one thing: Aulani. Disney’s Aulani Resort, located on Oahu, has recently joined the list of Disney destinations that get their own special offers page.  The resort is so popular that even … Continue reading

What’s New at Coupons.com? – Week of April 26, 2012

Where do you get your coupons from? Most people, who are savvy savers, get at least a few of their grocery coupons from Coupons.com. They update with new coupons very frequently. They also have new and interesting offers that appear on websites outside of their own, (such as on their Facebook page). Here is what’s new with Coupons.com this week. Every week I get at least one email from Coupons.com. This is a good email to get, because it contains links to some of their new coupons. It often gives me news about special stuff that they have going on. … Continue reading

Irish Hotel Offers “Genealogy Butler” Service

Did your ancestors come from Ireland? Are you having difficulty tracking down vital records for them? Genealogists who are planning a trip to Ireland might want to see if they can book a room at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. They have a Genealogy Butler service. There is something very special about traveling to the country that your ancestors came from. Part of my family tree includes ancestors who came from Ireland. I remember when I was a little girl, and my grandmother sent me a postcard while she was on vacation in Ireland. I still have it today. About … Continue reading

The Pros and Cons of Special Ed Vouchers

Ohio has expanded its school voucher program to include all special education students. This means that parents of kids who have special needs, of any kind, can get financial support to put their child into a private school. The public schools may face financial difficulties as a result of the voucher system. According to Dictionary.com, a school voucher is “a government cash grant or tax credit for parents, equal to all or part of the cost of educating their child at an elementary or secondary school of their choice”. It may also be called an “educational voucher” or a “scholarship”. … Continue reading

Where to Rock Chinese New Year

I snapped this photo a couple of years ago as my daughter got up close and personal with a dancing lion at a Chinese New Year parade that snaked its way through Hilo, Hawaii. It’s tradition for parade-goers to feed little red envelopes stuffed with crisp one dollar bills into the lion’s mouth in order to receive a bit (or hopefully, a lot) of luck in the New Year. Celebrating Chinese New Year in Hawaii is a unique experience that will stay with you for a lifetime. While the 15-day celebration culminates on January 23rd, there is no shortage of … Continue reading

One More Disney Day Leap Year Extravaganza

It’s every kid’s dream: getting locked into Disney World overnight. While other Disney events have come close, notably Senior Trips/Grad Nites and New Year’s Eve parties, no one’s ever been allowed in a Disney Park in the middle of the night before. Or at least, a park has never been open to guests for a full 24 hours before. But now, both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom will be. One More Disney Day is how the Disney Parks have chosen to honor Leap Year. It’s an event that only comes around every four years, so execs wanted to celebrate it … Continue reading

More Places To Get a Flu Shot This Year

Earlier this week, I blogged about a bunch of places that you could go to if you were interested in getting a flu shot this year. If you have health insurance, then you can get a flu shot for free. You simply need to find a clinic, or pharmacy, that is willing to distribute it. One of the wonderful things about having health insurance are the “freebies”. You can get everything that has been officially designated as “preventative care” for free, without having to pay for a co-pay, deductible, or co-insurance payment. This is part of the Affordable Care Act, … Continue reading
