The Muppets Make Two Online Cooking Series

You know how excited I’ve been that Disney bought The Muppets. I know some were worried that The Muppets might change, becoming too cutesy, when under Disney’s control, but everything I’ve seen since the purchase leads me to believe that the essential spirit of The Muppets is still intact. More importantly, in the years leading up to the buyout we saw little from The Muppets. What we did, like their last feature film “Muppets from Space,” wasn’t encouraging. As soon as I heard that Disney now had ownership of my beloved puppet troupe, I knew at the very least we’d … Continue reading

Progressive Cooking Class for Adults

When some of Downtown Disney’s restaurants offered progressive cooking classes for kids in June, I complained a little bit. I loved the idea for children, but I was jealous that adults weren’t given the same opportunity. Well someone must have listened, or more likely, listened to feedback from those who actually attended the classes with their kids last month. Now, one month after three Downtown Disney restaurants opened their doors to introduce kids to the professional culinary world, those very establishments are doing the same thing for adults. On July 10 Fulton’s Crab House, Wolfgang Puck’s Grand Cafe, and Portobello … Continue reading

Starting at 11 a.m., kids move from one restaurant to another to receive cooking tips from masters in the trade. … Continue reading

Time To Move On

After a divorce it’s hard to know where to start. For me, I felt like I didn’t even know who I was, for so many years I was Steve’s wife that I wasn’t sure what my identity was with him. I used to say to my friends, only half jokingly, I have no idea what I even like anymore! Years of being married and compromising causes our personal likes and dislikes to blur at the edges, we are half of a marriage so we do the things that everyone likes. When you get a divorce you have to figure out … Continue reading

It’s Kitchen Time!

Do you incorporate kitchen learning into your homeschool? I’ve found it a great way to teach my kids a lot of things, and not just about how to cook, although that is a huge life skill they should know. Far too many people are relying on boxed mixes and drive-through when they get hungry, and everyone should know how to make a meal with actual, real ingredients. You can do a lot of good for your children as you teach them these basic skills. But you can also teach them math as they learn how to double or half a … Continue reading

Marathon Monday at Disney World

Now there’s more than one way to earn a free day at Disney World. For 2010, those who volunteer in their local community can sign up for a free trip to Disneyland or Disney World. Next year, anyone who completes the Walt Disney World Marathon gets free admission to the park the following day. The official Disney Parks blog announces “Marathon Monday,” taking place on January 10, 2011. Everyone who finishes the 26.2-mile Disney World Marathon on January 9 can bring their finishers medal in place of a ticket to one of the Walt Disney World parks the following day. … Continue reading
