5 Terrible Disney Movies

I’ve talked about the great animated Disney films and the great non-animated Disney films. That list wouldn’t complete if I didn’t discuss some of the great stinkers presented by Disney over the years. While there are several out there, I’ve narrowed this list down to the 5 worst offenders. If you haven’t seen them, count yourself lucky. The Haunted Mansion The success of Pirates of the Caribbean notwithstanding, making a movie that is simply based on the premise of an attraction in the parks is not a safe bet. The movie was a success commercially, but the plot was flimsy, … Continue reading

The Amazing Spider Head

You’ve probably heard of that OTHER amazing spider person… I’m not talking about him. I’m talking about me. There’s a disturbing new trend in my walks with Moose and Lally. A few days ago, the dogs wrapped me around a tree. Nothing new, really — Moose goes one way, Lally goes the other, and I have to do some quick juggling before we walk on. I ducked underneath a branch after swapping the leashes and… walked face first into a spider web. Being the brave, unflappable individual that I am, I screamed something like GAH or GUH and ducked away. … Continue reading

It’s official, Harry Potter is back. At 12:01 a.m. last night, we sat down in a theater to preview Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix. Normally, I wouldn’t go see a movie so late, but my daughter is so eager to see the film, I wanted to preview it first. She’s a huge fan of Harry Potter, both the books and the films. Please note that this review will contain major spoilers if you have not read the books first. They’re Here – The Pirates Have Landed!

Unless you were living under a box this weekend, you could hardly miss the thud of the third Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End landing on multiplex screens all over the country. Fair warning parents, I don’t know that this movie is just the right thing for the really little ones. According to my husband who saw it with his co-workers on Friday, there’s a scene at the beginning where pirates are being hunted down and killed, including kids who were working with the pirates. He wasn’t expecting that opening and I have to admit, I was a bit … Continue reading

Disney World Parenting Tips

You may think that parenting is the same at Disney as it is at home. You would be right, but the problem is that a lot of parents focus on leniency as a way of keeping the peace when they are in the heavily crowded areas that comprise the parks. Yes, you may be more lenient when you are at the parks, but don’t sacrifice discipline and order just to avoid a whine or a complaint. Gluttony Disney World is a great huge invitation for gluttony. After all, there are tons of souvenirs from hats to clothes to toys and … Continue reading
