'Ohana - Dining at the Polynesianby Heather Long | More from this Blogger 20 Apr 2007 08:00 AM Looking to make the most of your dining options while you are on vacation in Orlando? The 'Ohana is a gem. Located at the Polynesian Resort, you should be sure to book reservations to guarantee seating when you want to eat. The restaurant serves breakfast (7:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.) and dinner (5 p.m. - 10 p.m.). What Sets 'Ohana Apart A fun, casual and family friendly restaurant, 'Ohana (it means family by the way) offers you good food that just keeps coming. What do we love about this place? It's a skewer service and that means there is food being prepared and served at all times. Waiters and waitresses bring the skewers around and offer you the opportunity to sample all the cuts of meat that you might enjoy. There are stir-fried vegetables, shrimp wontons, honey-covered chicken wings and more. You aren't waiting for the meal to be prepared, the food is available to you the moment you set down. If you've spent the day in the parks and you have reservations for 6 p.m. - you can be eating by 6:05. The food is quite good, but the atmosphere is what really sets the restaurant apart. Character Meals 'Ohana features Disney characters that pass through the dining area to the delight of children and adults alike. There are strolling singers and games that you can play. You want to sit in the main dining area where you can see the fire pit. The grilled foods are prepared right out in the open and that can be fun to watch. The chef occasionally pours liquid into the fire in order to make it flare often in response to something one of the waiters says. From the Polynesian décor to the constant entertainment to the great food - 'Ohana is worth every penny you spend. Oh and before I forget - be ready because at any moment you may be invited to join in a hula-hoop contest or the kids may get to race coconuts around the dining area using brooms. Kids love this restaurant. Check out the Polynesian (you can use the Magic Your Way Dining Plan as well) and when you are planning out your trip, be sure to set your reservations and your meal at 'Ohana with your 'Ohana whether you're staying at the Polynesian Resort or not.
