No Longer the Happiest Turkeys on Earth

Last year for Thanksgiving I wrote about the Presidential Turkey Pardon tradition. For many years now the pardoned turkeys make their way to a Disney Park to lead the Thanksgiving parade and then retire in luxury at Disneyland or Disney World. As of this year, however, pardoned turkeys are no longer being welcomed into the parks. The OC Register reports that this year Disney parks officials decided to stop hosting the pardoned turkeys. One More Day at Disneyland Too

When I wrote about One More Disney Day I made an oversight: I didn’t check to see if the event was exclusive to Disney World or if it’s happening at Disneyland as well. My article on the subject only mentions the Orlando park. Thanks to The Orange County Register I’ve found out that Disneyland is also celebrating Leap Year by keeping its gates open for a full 24 hours. Reserve a Turkey Dinner at Disneyland

Normally I try not to post about events at the Disney parks, especially for holidays, until right before they happen. We’re on the cusp of Halloween, so it seems silly to talk about a holiday that won’t come until a month after that. But sometimes I do have to mention events early, as tickets go on sale in advance. My Yard Goes Disney

Many of my friends are addicted to Home and Garden Television, or HG-TV. I don’t know if any of them are Disney fans, and that’s a shame. Disney website Stitch Kingdom reveals that beginning on June 6, HG-TV will air the new show “My Yard Goes Disney.” For the show Orlando-area families can sign up in hopes to win an outdoor makeover for their home by Disney designers. Mickey’s Toontown Farewell

While the Fantasyland expansion means the creation of some fantastic new attractions in the Magic Kingdom, it also indicates the closing of some old Disney World standards. Tomorrow, February 12, sees the shutdown of Mickey’s Toontown Fair. I can’t be overly nostalgic about the Toontown Fair because I’ve never been to it, nor is it one of the attractions I can herald as a Disney World original. Visit Disneyland next weekend to meet Baloo and other rarely-seen Disney characters Everyone knows that the Disney Parks don’t need much of an excuse to throw a party. Now that we’re coming to the Adventures by Disney trips in Europe and North America, I will have to break up these sections into even smaller increments because there are so many travel options. Today I will focus on Adventures by Disney’s trips in England, France, Ireland, and Germany. Adventures by Disney offers two separate trips in England and France: the Gateway to London and Paris tour and the England and France Family Vacation.
