Test Your Driving Mettle at Epcot’s Test Track

Disney World sure is the park for auto buffs. First it has the already-profiled Richard Petty Driving Experience, and it also contains Epcot’s Test Track. I guess Disneyland might start to compete a bit with Cars Land, but until we know more about that attraction it’ll be hard to tell. An amusement park might not be a car nut’s ideal vacation, but if they’re already there for other reasons, at least they’ll have more to do than at another park. I almost profiled Test Track as another Fun for Grown-Ups at Disney feature, but kids 7 and older are allowed … Continue reading

Kid Stuff at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival

The folks at Disney would never dream of planning a flower and garden festival without planning some fun and magic for the children who will be dragged along by their perennial loving parents! The following activities have been planned for family fun that includes both adults and children. Be sure to check them out if you go to the festival this year. Minnie’s Magnificent Butterfly Garden Hundreds of free-flying butterflies are sure to entertain and amaze as you walk through the butterfly house and garden. Peter Pan’s Neverland Garden This garden is new this year. This is a great topiary … Continue reading

The Fifteenth Annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival For 75 days, from March 19 to June 1, 2008, Epcot will celebrate “Fun in the Sun” with the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. You can see millions of blooms and the largest collection of Disney Topiary anywhere. (You know, the ones that look like Disney characters.) Garden Town will be a new addition this year. There you’ll be able to get gardening tips and participate in demonstrations. Some special events include the Flower Power Concert Series at the American Gardens Theater as well as a special Easter Brunch on … Continue reading

Disney Good News/Bad News: New Prices and A New Princess

Let’s start with the bad news first: You’ll have to dig a bit deeper into your pockets if you want to hang out with Mickey and Minnie in Florida. Last weekend, Walt Disney World hiked the cost of a one-day adult pass to its four Orlando theme parks by 6%, to a record breaking $71. This is not good news for those of you who patronize Disney’s rivals Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando either. While those parks haven’t raised their prices yet, in the past they have quickly matched Disney’s increases. Now for the good news: Help is on the … Continue reading

New Eats At Epcot

Forget about Space Mountain. If I am going to wait in line at Walt Disney World it’s going to be for a table that I can sit at and chow down on some serious grub. While I have (once) mustered enough courage to board Space Mountain, I willingly admit that when it comes to thrill rides, I am a big wimp. That’s why I love Epcot’s World Showcase. The focus there is less on the thrills and chills and more on… grills and all the tasty treats that are created on them. If you haven’t been to Epcot in a … Continue reading

Exploring the International Disney Parks

Disney World and Disneyland aren’t exactly the same, so why should the other Disney parks abroad be similar?  If you ever get the chance to travel to an international Disney park, perhaps to Tokyo Disneyland for the new D23 convention this fall, you might notice a few differences from the domestic ones.  BBC Travel did a report on some of the unique things that set the international parks apart. One of the most obvious differences is the food.  While you can get some international food at Disney Parks, especially at Epcot at Disney World, it’s still not standard.  Obviously, that’s … Continue reading

Disney on Ice 2012-2013 Season

A new year means a new group of Disney on Ice shows debuting for the public. All right, I know we’re over halfway through the year, but so many interesting things have been happening with Disney so far in 2012 that this got pushed back to the list. Plus, it’s unlikely that, given how new most of these shows are, they’re going anywhere for a while. Speaking of shows that aren’t going anywhere: Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic is still going strong. It started in 1999 to commemorate the Disney legacy, and although it’s sometimes toured under a … Continue reading

Fall Disney Cruise Special Offers

The Disney Parks aren’t the only Disney vacation destinations that give discounts from time to time. The Disney Cruise line has its own special offers page, so today we’ll check out the upcoming deals. One special deal was actually just announced on the official Disney Parks blog. Want to have a unique Halloween that you’ve never experienced before? Take a Disney cruise over the holiday. Cruise ships transform for Halloween (and, presumably, allow all of their passengers to wear costumes). If you travel aboard a Disney ship over Halloween, expect to find: Disney characters dressed up in special seasonal duds, … Continue reading

Losing It in Public

Overheard at the zoo last week: Mom to tweenage son: “Knock it off, Caden! We’re not in a video game.” Tweenage boy attempting to trip younger sibling: “You’re going down.” Mom: “Caden! Knock! It! Off!” Boy: “DOWN!” And that’s exactly where the younger sibling went. Flat on his face, courtesy of the tweenage boy, right in front of the polar bear exhibit where my daughter and I happened to be standing. Unfortunately, we had front row seats to the mama drama. And the show was far from over. In fact, it was just beginning. Once the mom saw her younger … Continue reading

Get Into Disney World for Free

The commercial runs ad nauseam, but it’s paying off. According to the folks at Disney, their new free admission promo will likely make history. If you live under a rock or you don’t own a television, then you might not know about the “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day” program. The project will provide certified volunteers with a one-day ticket to any park at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, or Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida, in 2010. Disney execs say they will give one million guests a free day’s admission to a Disney theme park provided visitors complete an … Continue reading
