My Disney Movie Top 5by Katie-Anne Gustafsson | More from this Blogger 08 Feb 2007 06:54 AM As a prelude to a set of articles next week on Disney at the Oscars I thought I'd do a top 5 list of my all time favorites. These are in no particular order, but they're the ones I love to watch over and over again. The Lion King - the opening music to this movie, and the whole "Circle of Life" sequence set the scene and bring me out in goose bumps. The characters are captivating, and even the evil Scar has such a droll attitude that he makes me laugh! This movie is an emotional roller coaster and I adore it! Jungle Book - long before Simba was born, Mowgli and friends ruled the jungle and Baloo rocked it. The songs in this movie make me smile every time I hear them. I was never a Tarzan fan (even in the hands of Disney), but the Jungle Book version of a child reared by animals captured my heart from the first time I saw it. The Little Mermaid - I've always loved this fairy tale and the Disney treatment did it proud. My favorite character is Sebastian who never fails to have me bopping along to "Under the Sea". Pocahantas - As someone passionate about women's history, I was already familiar with the real story behind the romanticized Disney version, but despite some general blurring of fact with fiction, I love this movie. "Colors of the Wind" is one of my all-time favorite songs and plays on my MP3 jukebox. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - this was my induction into the Disney kingdom and it never fails to enchant me. From hissing at the evil stepmother queen, to laughing at the antics of the dwarfs, this movie runs a gamut of emotion that pulls the story along. Hi-Ho! There are so many great Disney movies, but if I were only allowed a fraction of my collection, these are the ones I couldn't bear to be without!
