Couple Visits Disneyland Every Day in 2012

At the end of 2012 I came across an interesting post on the official Disney Parks blog: a couple visited Disneyland every single day in 2012.  On December 31, Jeff Reitz and Tonya Mickesh received special gifts personally from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs.  It was a typical fancy Disney ceremony: as the two made their way down Main Street, Staggs was waiting for them to present their honors in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Their honors included being made honorary citizens of Disneyland, and a stay in the Disneyland Dream Suite, a luxury apartment off the … Continue reading

New Events at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

If you’ve ever been to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party — Walt Disney World’s tickets-only, after-hours, month-long Christmas bash — then you think you’ve seen it all.  While that’s not entirely untrue – most of the major elements of the party don’t change from year to year – visitors in 2012 can expect to see something a little bit different this year.  Disney Parks site Inside the Magic has, well, the insider’s details on the new things you can expect to see at this year’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Of course the biggest thing on everyone’s minds is the brand new Fantasyland … Continue reading

Disney Party Tickets and Animal Kingdom Update

Tickets for two Magic Kingdom holiday events, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, are now available. This information comes via the official Disney Parks blog. Pricing and date information for both events are up at the official post. What’s funny about that, however, is that the article doesn’t contain any links to follow or phone numbers to call to actually book the tickets. All one needs to do, however, is go to the official Disney World pages detailing each event, and one is directed to the purchasing sites from there. Follow the link here for the … Continue reading

Pirates & Princess Party Returning This Summer

Pirates are the hot things this summer at Disney, but Princesses are always in season and this summer, the Pirates and Princess Party is returning to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The party allows you to take up your adventure map and treasure pouch on a journey through the Magic Kingdom in search of royal beads and chocolate doubloons. There will be Pirate Coves, Princess Courts, a new Enchanted Adventures Parade as well as the Music and Mayhem fireworks display. The Pirates and Princess parties will be hosted during evening events at the Magic Kingdom over the summer in similar tradition … Continue reading

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Starts November 13 and takes place on 18 evenings through the end of November and into December. I told you a couple of months ago about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and what a blast that is. Well, in just a few short days begins a delightful treat at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World called Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. For five very special days in November (13, 17, 27, 28, 30), the Magic Kingdom invites you to attend their after hours party. There is a very special parade aptly called Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade with two … Continue reading

Wintry Fantasies at the Disney Parks

Disneyland’s new Fantasy Faire doesn’t open until March 12, but details are starting to emerge about what the attraction will entail.  It draws some inspiration from Disney World’s Fantasyland expansion; the Faire as a whole will take the form of a medieval village.  That reminds me a lot of Belle’s village at the new Fantasyland. That shouldn’t be too surprising, because the Fantasy Faire is an expansion of Disneyland’s Fantasyland.  It’s not as large or ambitious as the one at Disney World, but it’s still going to be similar.  Unlike the one in Orlando, however, the one in Anaheim won’t … Continue reading

Disney World: What’s the Best Time of Year to Go?

If you ask ten different people what’s the best time of year to pay a call on Disney World, chances are you’d get ten different answers. I haven’t had a chance to ask ten different people what their opinions are on the best time to go to Disney World, so I’ll go ahead and just give you my opinion on when the best time to go to Disney World is. Autumn in Orlando You often hear about autumn in New York or a weekend in New England (yes, okay those are titles and I’m borrowing them shamelessly), but autumn in … Continue reading

Holidays at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT

It is that time of year. It’s the time of year when Walt Disney World transforms into a magical holiday experience. There are special events at all the theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort, and in Downtown Disney. At the Magic Kingdom theme park, there’s a total holiday extravaganza going on. There’s a new parade, called Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade, and of course the Very Merry Christmas Party that Heather wrote a recent blog about about. Also, there’s a fireworks spectacular every night. There are beautiful holiday decorations all over the park, and this year, “Holiday Wishes: … Continue reading

What’s Happening this New Year’s At Disney World?

We’ve talked about Christmas in the parks, but what’s happening for New Year’s? Well mark down your Calendar if you’re going to be in the Orlando, Florida area. This year the happening place to be looks to be Disney World and their theme parks. If you are planning to visit a Disney World theme park on December 31, you should plan to arrive early and stay late. Some parks will close their gates to new visitors depending on their capacity and there will be a priority entrance given to guests of the Walt Disney World Resorts. The big celebrations will … Continue reading

Do You Know What’s Happening at Disney’s California Adventure?

It’s the holiday season and the Disney theme parks are decking themselves out as they get ready for it all. As part of the celebrations, Disney’s California Adventure is decorating it from front to back. For starters, guests will notice that the letters at the entrance way that spell out CALIFORNIA have been redone to appear as swirling white and red peppermint sticks. You’ll find plenty of new attractions and old favorites at Disney’s California Adventure as well including: The High School Musical Pep Rally Monster’s Inc: Mike & Sully to the Rescue Soarin’ Over California (an absolute must, let … Continue reading
