Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow

Did you know that is what Epcot means? We forget sometimes that E.P.C.O.T. is an acronym and not just a name. 25 years ago, Epcot was opened. The original plan for this area was not necessarily an amusement park, but rather as a city of its own. The idea was to be a modern utopia designed much around the idea of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority and more. Walt’s original plan would create a downtown that was always indoors. This way the weather was always perfect – no matter if a hurricane was blowing in from outside. There would also be … Continue reading

Don’t Get Rained Out of the Parks

When you travel to Disney World or any Disney park for that matter, rain may sound like a bad thing – but unless it’s a hurricane, rain can actually be pretty great to your Disney experience. Be sure to pack some rain ponchos in your luggage and you can pick them up pretty cheap at your local Wal-mart. If you go with a bright color scheme, it will help you keep track of each other while moving around the parks. The Perk of Rain Lots of people stay indoors when it rains, so lines are shorter at the parks. During … Continue reading

The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacres

If you head over to Toontown in the Magic Kingdom you will discover a small, but charming roller coaster designed for young children. The Barnstormer The ride requires you to be 35” tall at least and the best times to head over to the Barnstormer is usually early in the morning before 10:30 or during one of the parades. The ride itself lasts less than … Continue reading

For my family, Splash Mountain is a must do ride. It’s my daughter’s absolute … Continue reading

The Magic of the Magic Kingdom ….it’s not just for kids!

I’ll admit to anyone who wants to know – I’m a 100% Disney fan, and don’t think there’s a better place to have a vacation than in one of the Disney World parks. One of my dreams is to take my two boys to the Magic Kingdom before they get to that awkward age when they’re too old to see the magic and too young to appreciate the idea, but at the moment health issues have me banned from long-haul travel. As each birthday passes I wonder if we’re going to make it, or whether they’ll be rolling their eyes … Continue reading

Little Odds and Ends Around the Magic Kingdom

Most of the overlooked attractions that I mentioned in my previous two blogs were free, but there are some little goodies, lots of tasty treats, that are worth their cost! Here are a few of those odds and ends! At Aloha Isle, you can get Dole Whips, which are a nearly famous Disney treat, a pineapple and frozen yogurt concoction. In the Enchanted Grove in Fantasyland, you can get the Strawberry Swirl, with is a super tasty treat! It’s made with strawberries that are twirled in non fat vanilla yogurt! In Adventureland, in the Sunshine Tree Terrace, you can get … Continue reading
