Extreme Makeover: Disney Styleby Heather Long | More from this Blogger 27 Aug 2006 08:24 AM The Contemporary and Polynesian resorts recently underwent a guest room makeover to make these Disney resorts more inviting for guests. One of the great things about Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Polynesian Resorts is that they are both on the monorail. Monorail access allows guests to get easily back and forth to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and more. Both resorts opened in 1971 as a part of the grand opening of the Walt Disney World Resort. Both the Contemporary and Polynesian resorts were the first efforts of blending the fantasy vacation with not only the theme parks but the hotels as well. The makeover was scheduled to be completed this summer in time for the 25th anniversary celebration of the opening of Disney World. The décor in the Contemporary has been updated to include reds, greens and yellows in order to be a more elegant and modern design. They have also added to the guest rooms:
The Polynesian Resort continues to embrace the South Seas island theme including lots of dark wood contrasted with tropical blues and greens. The added amenities are similar to those listed above for the Contemporary. The updates are freshening the look and making it warm and inviting for family and individual travelers alike. I've never gotten to stay at the Polynesian or Contemporary resorts previously, but they've both just gone to the top of my list for my next Disney World visit. Have you ever stayed at these resorts?
