Epcot - Not Just for Big Kids Anymore

If you're anything like me, you may think that Epcot doesn't offer quite as much fun for kids as adults. It always seemed to me that my young son would not enjoy Epcot as much as he would the Magic Kingdom, or Animal Kingdom. Boy was I wrong. With all of the updates Epcot has made in recent years, even at four years old, my son had a blast!

The Imagination Pavilion has lots of hands on attractions for kids to enjoy, including a Kodak exhibit where you can take a family photo, then add fun special effects, like morphing, and email it to yourself back home! The Journey Through the World of Imagination is a fun ride, which teaches kids about your senses like smell and sound. At the Land pavilion, there's lots to learn about conservation, and the Living Seas has been revamped and now features Nemo and his friends!

The World Showcase is spectacular as always, but I never thought it would be a whole lot of fun for little kids. Wrong again! Epcot now has "KidCot" locations all over the park. There is a location in each country, for kids to add a charm to a mask that Epcot gives to them. Each country has a charm that is representative of the culture for that country. You can also purchase a passport for your kids (or even for you Big Kids!). The passport is about $10, and comes with the passport booklet (which looks just like a real passport!), a button to wear, and eleven sheets of stickers, one for each country. When you take the passport to each "KidCot" location, a cast member from that country will stamp their passport, and write a phrase in their native language! Then your child can add the stickers for that country to the pages, and they have a keepsake to enjoy forever!

There are also KidCot locations in the Future World side of the park, where kids can get charms to put on their mask, or onto a "tag" that they can hang around their necks (for example, they can choose a shark or a dolphin at the Living Seas attraction).

So there you have it! Epcot - not just for Big Kids anymore!

That's great to know as we also have a 4 yr. old son, and two other children! We just went to the Magic Kingdom this past weekend, for a full day of fun. But we have not been to Epcot in years, and quite frankly, were worried to go again for fear that the kids would be bored. Thanks for telling us otherwise! We'll have to go and give it a shot!

Floridamama...it might be worth reading my blog regarding PAL Mickey as well...I think that would only serve to enhance the experience! We had a blast, and they have added an extra 5 minutes to IllumiNations for Christmas...and the decorations around the world are spectacular!

If you're going to have dinner there, at a table service restaurant, I highly recommend the Rose & Crown in the UK...the food is good, and it's not expensive!

Thanks, Tracey!
