Dream a Little Dream Job For Me!by Heather Long | More from this Blogger 25 Apr 2007 09:42 AM When I first heard about this contest on Career Builder, I wasn't sure that I took it seriously and to the hundreds of entrants who submitted their videos and the almost 1 million votes cast by visitors to contest hosted by Career Builder for the Dream "Job" at Disney - please accept my apologies. From this large pool of entrants, there are 25 finalists on their way to the Disneyland Resort in June. A Haunted Mansion Butler/Maid contestant's video received almost 50,000 votes and a Princess-in-Waiting video received over 70,000 votes. 70,000 votes. Can you imagine? These contestants were entering videos casting themselves in their 'Dream' roles as a part of the Year of a Million Dreams Michael Mendenhall, executive vice president of Disney Destinations, said the volume of entries surprised him. When we announced our Dream 'Job' search, I'm not sure we realized just how wildly popular the initiative would be; the response has been simply overwhelming. America had some tough choices to make with so many creative and entertaining video resumes. We look forward to welcoming them into their Dream 'Job' roles this June. The winners will have the opportunity to actually perform and do their ultimate Disney Dream Job. There were five categories in the contest including:
They will be given two months to perfect their skills before they get to experience their opportunities as Honorary Disney Cast Members for the Day. The winners will be immersed in Disney traditions and also given the opportunity to ride the newest attraction at Disneyland: Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (opening officially on June 11). Can You Imagine? I thought the idea of submitting a video of yourself playing your dream Disney job a bit of a farfetched idea. Yet, now I find myself feeling more than a bit jealous of the idea because these 25 finalists are really going to have an opportunity to participate in their dream job. I know it's been said before and it will be said again - Disney does a wonderful job of helping to make dreams come true. We'll take a good look at the dream jobs tomorrow.
