The Disneyland Resort in California is going to weave a little magic with time this summer. Starting on June 11th, the cast members and management for the parks are going to create a virtual 8th day to the week so visitors can enjoy the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

The attraction is returning to the parks as a part of their Year of a Million Dreams celebration. Each day, the subs will continue their voyages to discover Nemo for as much as 2.5 hours after the parks close. Disneyland is typically open 16 hours a day during the summer months, the extra time will bring the day to 18.5 hours 7 days a week - by the time you get to the seventh day, that's added the virtual 8th day with the extra 16 hours.

The President of the Disneyland Resort, Ed Grier said

We're very excited to bring back the classic subs attraction, which we know will appeal to guests of all ages. In order to meet what we believe will be a very high demand, we're virtually adding an 8th day to the week.

Finding Nemo

For Disney visitors, don't worry about having to stand in line - you can spend your time there looking for Nemo as well. There are Hidden Nemos all along the area where you are in line. There is a "Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage" activity guide that includes some Nemo-related games. Oh - and if you get hungry, be sure to grab some snack packs of East Australian Crunch (yes, there are cheddar goldfish in the mix).

The Submarine Voyage is a classic attraction that dates back to 1959. They retired it in 1998, but it's making its splashy return - inspired in part by the 2003, Disney Pixar Finding Nemo.

I always loved the Submarine Voyage, I think it's wonderful to see it refitted and returned to service. Updates are not always a bad thing - and in this case, I think it's pretty spiffy. Are you planning a trip to Disneyland this summer?
