The Disney Blog Week in Review for July 23-July 27

Unfortunately, due to many dental issues this month, I haven’t paid as much attention to the Disney blog as I should. In an effort to correct that Michele Cheplic, our fantastic travel blogger is joining the Disney blog to help out and share some great stories she’s found on Disney theme parks, products and more – so be sure to check out her blogs. Monday, July 23 Have You Ever Purchased a Shopping Pass? A shopping pass is a great way to get into the park, pick up a few items and get your cash back for the pass if … Continue reading

Disney World to Pay Backed Wages

Is it as fun for them as it is for us? At first thought it might seem that for us Disney addicts working at one of the Disney parks would be a dream job. We’d spend our days surrounded by the Disney magic we love. Only I’m not so sure about that. I’d worry that my behind-the-scenes ticket to a Disney park would ruin a lot of the magic for me. Now it seems like on top of that employment at Disney World might not even meet federal standards on working conditions. The Associated Press reported at the end of … Continue reading

American Cancer Society Releases Top 5 Carcinogens in Report

As medicine advances, we know there are certain things from which we should stay away from in order to help increase our chances of not getting cancer. Smoking – check. Asbestos – check. Burnt, grilled meat – check. But this week, the American Cancer Society (ACS) issued a report of 20 “suspected carcinogens,” that is, things that cause cancer. The organization would like more research done on these items. Making the list were: lead and lead compounds; cobalt with tungsten carbide; titanium dioxide; welding fumes; refractory ceramic fibers; diesel exhaust; carbon black; styrene-7,8-oxide and styrene; propylene oxide; formaldehyde; acetaldehyde; dichloromethane, … Continue reading

It’s A Fat, Fat World

The It’s a Small World ride opened in 1964 during the New York World’s Fair. The beauty of it is that nothing has changed about the ride since then. The tragedy of it is that the average American weighs a whole lot more now than they did back then. Why a tragedy? Because our fat American butts are bottoming out the boats and holding up the ride! The ride was designed with an eye for most men to weigh 200 pounds or less and women who weighed 135 or less. We all know that the average American woman doesn’t weigh … Continue reading

Disney in Oklahoma?

It’s not just a Rogers and Hammerstein idea, but apparently there’s another rumor floating around that Disney may be considering adding a new theme park to its stable. This theme park would be located somewhere in the state of Oklahoma – likely near Oklahoma City. The weather is temperate, the central location is ideal and it’s been about 15 years since Disney launched a new theme park. (Can you believe Disneyland Paris the former Euro Disney is 15 years old?) A press release issued yesterday is fanning the flames as it was announced that Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry will be … Continue reading

Halloween Disney Style

My 3-year-old daughter picked out her Halloween costume this weekend. (Snoopy, of course.) I figured since I procrastinated so much last year I would get a jumpstart on the holiday this year. Yes, I know it’s hard to think about ghosts and goblins when the rest of the country is still concentrating on swim lessons and sun dresses. But I’m not the only one preparing for the Autumn Holiday Season. Disney just released its Halloween lineup for its theme parks. Disney’s HalloweenTime is returning to the Disneyland Resort this fall and it’s being touted as one of the largest events … Continue reading
