Fun for Grown-Ups at Disney: The Spas

When I last talked about fun things for adults to do alone at Disney, I highlighted a fast-paced thrill ride. Today I’m going to talk about a service Disney features that is perfect for winding down after racing around the tracks at the Richard Petty Experience: spas. Several of the hotels at Disney Parks have spas, but Disney World in particular boasts a few larger ones worthy of note: the Grand Floridian, Saratoga Springs, and Mandara. These three offer an extra level of pampering ideal for a vacation all about taking time to relax. The Balinese-themed Mandara spa can actually … Continue reading

What’s All The Fuss at Victoria and Albert’s?

Victoria and Albert’s restaurant at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the finest dining experience there is at Walt Disney World. It is a small, intimate and elegant restaurant that has been recognized by the nation’s top food critics and has received a AAA five-diamond rating. This is not an every-day dining experience. It is a very special occasion (and extremely romantic) Victorian retreat. A harpist provides background music during your seven course meal, the restaurant itself is lavishly decorated, the menus are personalized, every lady receives a long-stemmed rose and every table is served by not one but … Continue reading

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

I’ve always loved this resort. The image of this massive, concrete A-frame building with a monorail going through the middle of it was the epitome of modern when I was a kid. This 15 story 1,041 room monstrosity is in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area and is bordered by Bay Lake. Its rooms have fantastic views of the Magic Kingdom and nightly fireworks from Cinderella’s Castle. Standard rooms at the Contemporary offer guests two queen sized or one king sized bed and a daybed, table and chairs, ceiling fan, data-port, in room safe and voicemail. Many of the rooms here … Continue reading

Restaurants at the Grand Floridian

I promised you some information on the restaurants available at the Grand Floridian and while I’m late, better late than never. Here is a look at the restaurants available at the Grand Floridian. Even if you do not stay at the hotel, the restaurants themselves are worth checking out during your next Disney World visit and stay at a Disney World resort. Victoria & Albert’s is considered the dining centerpiece of the Grand Floridian. It’s also a very fancy, elegant restaurant and if you’re looking for a place to dress up in your fine clothes for a beautiful evening with … Continue reading
