Disney Vacation Club

The Disney Vacation Club is an interesting twist on the traditional time-share plan. With the Disney Vacation Club, you do make a large initial purchase and then pay annual fees but you get more than the same week every year in Orlando - that is, if you want it.

The one-time purchase prices begin at $16,640 (plus closing costs and annual dues). For that purchase price, you receive annual points toward your vacation. You can save your points or use them every year. The point system is what allows the Disney Vacation Club its flexibility.

Each of the Disney Vacation Club properties' accommodations has a point value depending upon the size of the accommodations and when you plan to stay there. Peak seasons will cost you more points than off seasons will and a studio will cost fewer points than a three bedroom villa.

The way it works is fairly simple. The lowest purchase price of $16,640 will get you the ownership interest of 160 points per year. For couples who enjoy an annual Disney vacation, this may seem ideal. As their family grows, they can add to their membership so that they have more points to use or bank every year.

Here are some examples of what a vacation may cost in points:

A Studio at Disney's BoardWalk Villas for a three-day weekend in September would be 49 points.

A Studio at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort for 4th of July week would cost 152 points.

A Standard Room at the Disneyland Hotel for a week in October 2006 would cost 161 points.

You see, the points system allows you the flexibility of planning your vacation when and where you want it. You can use your points for more than just Disney World and Disneyland vacations too. There are over 500 properties to choose from all over the world and every one of them provides the quality of service that you would expect from a Disney resort.
