Disney "Dream" Jobs

A couple of days ago, I mentioned that the Career Builder contest that thousands of people entered their videos into presenting themselves in their personal dream roles as Disney Cast Members. The dream jobs these contest entries were competing for included Jungle Cruise skippers, pirates, Haunted Mansion Butlers and Maids; Princesses-in-Waiting and Disney Parks Parade Performers.

What Are These Dream Jobs?

Do you have a dream job at Disney? I always wanted to be one of the dancers that performed during the stage shoes, myself. But let's talk a little bit about what each of these dream jobs actually involves because I know exactly which of these jobs my daughter would have wanted - and funnily enough, it wasn't to be a Disney Princess-in-Waiting. Her dream job:

I want to be a Pirate, Mommy! I want my own ship!

The 'dream' job winners chosen as pirates will each be given a very distinct personality. They will be given a name and a 'cursed' prop to be inspired by the trilogy of Pirates of the Caribbean movies. These new pirates will then be invited to join the Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island. They will enjoy interactions with guests of the Disney, with the crew and with the inimitable Captain Jack Sparrow. Doesn't that sound like fun?

What About the Haunted Mansion?

The butlers and maids of the Haunted Mansion work together to create a delightfully chilling environment where guests are invited to tour the mansion on a ride that is more fun than it is scary. The cast members playing the maids and the butlers provide the atmosphere of the attraction when they welcome guests into the 'expanding room' or when the Butlers working as groundskeepers take the 'ghost dogs' out for a stroll. Maids are also seen in the foyer. The job of the butlers and the maids is to encourage the imagination and to help you suspend disbelief before stepping into what is arguably one of the best rides available from the Disney imagination at the Magic Kingdom.

Every Girl Wants to Be a Princess, Right?

We talked earlier this week about the effect of marketing Princesses on our daughters, but many girls and women alike enjoy the idea of dressing up in the role of Princess-in-Waiting. The winners selected in this category will have the opportunity to join their fellow princesses at the Princess Fantasy Faire and will also interact with guests prior to the Royal Coronation Ceremony. They teach guests the royal dance as well as how to wave and curtsey properly.

Parade & Jungle Cruise

The last two categories include the Jungle Cruise Skipper who entertain guests with their witty commentary along the adventurous jungle trip through the river and the Parade performers who participate in the High School Musical Pep Rally and showcases the basketball shoot around in 'Wildcat Fever.' In every instance, these performers will enjoy roles that bring smiles to the faces of visitors, young and old alike.

What Disney 'dream' job would be ideal for you?
