Disney: Coming to a Store Near You

Never mind that my living room already looks like a disheveled Disney Store stockroom, those crafty folks at Mickey's head office want my daughter to beg me for even more Winnie the Pooh and Donald Duck merchandise.

If you have children (or are simply an observant shopper) you likely know all about the savvy marketers over at Disney who have come up with innovative ways to sell their diverse array of everyday products. From Disney vitamins to Disney fragrances, Disney fruit snacks (my daughter is partial to the "Little Einsteins" ones) to Disney shampoos, Disney toothpaste, and Disney soap. Store shelves are well stocked with products inspired by beloved Disney characters, Disney films, and Disney Channel shows.

This year my young daughter got her first taste of Disney's new line of "better-for-you" meal items. Cruise down your grocer's aisles and you'll find yogurt with Lilo's picture on it or frozen waffles with shots of Pooh and Tigger waving. Our local market doesn't currently stock it, but I know some stores carry fresh hamburger patties in the shape of Mickey's head---complete with his trademark ears. Disney marketers have also segued into the produce aisle. Farmer Mickey's picture is emblazoned on containers of grapes and bags of apples. (That mouse is everywhere.)

In the health and beauty aisle I've seen a fairly new line of infant personal care products including a Baby Einstein line and a Winnie the Pooh Gentle and Naturals line featuring homeopathic products. And, as I mentioned in a previous blog, the folks at Disney are now going after tween boys by launching new fragrances that will mask the scent of sweat, mud and grass. If you have a tween girl you are likely familiar with the cosmetics and fragrances inspired by Disney Channel's "That's So Raven" and "Hannah Montana" TV series. There's even a line of "Alice In Wonderland" cosmetics by Goldie. What's more, Disney execs say they recently forged a licensing relationship with Bath & Body Works and are currently developing a line of Tinker Bell cosmetics.

What are some of your favorite Disney products?
