Disney Channel.com, iTunes & Moreby Heather Long | More from this Blogger 27 Aug 2006 12:00 PM Disney is more than just Mickey Mouse, though most of us associate it with Mickey and the gang or the animated feature films. Disney is also the parent company that owns the ABC Network and features shows such as Lost, Grey's Anatomy and more. Disney, like many other networks are utilizing the Internet to extend their programming options. Their efforts have not gone unrewarded as their free, but ad-supported shows are featured on the Disney Channel Web site. News reports indicate there have been more than 37 million downloads and an average of 1 million visitors a day since they began featuring their programs on their web site. The idea was to not cannibalize their offerings on the networks or on iTunes, but to still provide their visitors with free programming. Revamping their Media Player Disney plans to continue offering free, ad-supported episodes on the Disney Channel website this Fall along with a new media player. While Disney led the charge with offering their shows for download at $1.99 each on iTunes, there are now more than 150 television shows now offered via iTunes music store. In the meanwhile, you can check out the Disney Channel.com video offerings here. Learn more about Heather Long ![]() Heather Long is 35 years old and currently lives in Wylie, Texas.
