Disney Cruise Destinations for 2014

The Disney Cruise Line prides itself on adding new destinations and different trips every year.  The itineraries for 2014 are starting to be released, so let’s take a look at the new places and experiences on the ticket for next year. First up, the Disney Cruise line is adding a whole new south Caribbean cruise.  The highlight of the trip is that it’ll be heading to Puerto Rico for the first time ever.  The Disney Magic will leave from San Juan on a new 7-night south Caribbean cruise that will also visit St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Kitts, Grenada, and Antigua. … Continue reading

Exploring the International Disney Parks

Disney World and Disneyland aren’t exactly the same, so why should the other Disney parks abroad be similar?  If you ever get the chance to travel to an international Disney park, perhaps to Tokyo Disneyland for the new D23 convention this fall, you might notice a few differences from the domestic ones.  BBC Travel did a report on some of the unique things that set the international parks apart. One of the most obvious differences is the food.  While you can get some international food at Disney Parks, especially at Epcot at Disney World, it’s still not standard.  Obviously, that’s … Continue reading

Special Offers at Aulani, Disney’s Hawaii Resort

As winter approaches (or does more than approach, slamming some parts of the country with storms), we already want to turn our thoughts toward spring.  While there’s nothing we can do to make the months go by faster, perhaps what we can do is avoid the cold weather for a while by vacationing somewhere warm.  A dream vacation for many is Hawaii, and for Disney fans, that can mean one thing: Aulani. Disney’s Aulani Resort, located on Oahu, has recently joined the list of Disney destinations that get their own special offers page.  The resort is so popular that even … Continue reading

Destination Weddings: Do or Don’t?

Writing about Disney Cruise Weddings/Vow Ceremonies made me think about destination weddings.  Given that I wanted my wedding to be as small and simple as possible, it’s difficult for me to relate to those interested in having a destination wedding. For me, the concept only seems to make sense if the bride or the groom actually hails from the area in which they’re getting married.  Maybe he or she was born abroad, or on the other side of the country.  It’s one thing to ask your guests to spend a lot on travel expenses just because you want to get … Continue reading

A Year in Disney Fandom: D23 Events for 2013

Any D23 members wondering what will be on the official Disney Fan Club’s schedule for 2013 don’t need to wait any longer.  The official D23 website and the official Disney Parks blog have both posted announcements of the fan club’s 2013 events. The most exciting news to come out of D23 for 2013 is the announcement of a second year of Fanniversary.  The event, which is open to the public (but D23 members get first registration), is a must-attend celebration for any Disney fans.  It’s hours spent reveling in the best of Disney movies, history, park attractions, and more.  Special … Continue reading

Married at Sea: Disney Cruise Weddings

I’ve never written much about a Disney wedding, which is strange because I’m a blogger both for our Disney and our Marriage categories. But if you read my marriage blogs you know that I’m not a fan of big, fancy weddings, and a Disney wedding would certainly be that. Previous Disney bloggers have written a lot on the topic, so I didn’t have anything new to offer. Until now. I just learned that the Disney Cruise line offers wedding and vow renewal packages. I’m always up for writing about a new Disney thing I didn’t know existed, and we’ve never … Continue reading

Adventures by Disney Cruise Enhancements

Once again the Disney Cruise line has teamed up with Adventures by Disney to help you make even more out of your Disney vacation. Before, the two created European Port Adventures, where guests on European cruises could follow Adventures by Disney guides on land to see and learn even more of the countries they’re visiting. This time they’re doing something similar, with Alaska. The name is a bit wordier this time, called “Enhance Your Alaskan Cruise with Adventures by Disney.” For anyone familiar with Adventures by Disney, particularly its trips to rural locales, a lot of the activities are going … Continue reading

Disney Launches New Baby Store

Disney really is after what it thinks is the hottest new market: infants. They’re negotiating to have a presence in maternity wards and creating advice and social networking sites aimed at new and expecting parents, and now they’re opening stores specifically for their Disney Baby brand. To avoid confusion: the Disney Baby brand is not a line of Disney products featuring child versions of its characters, but sets of clothing, supplies, toys, and more, all for infants. USA Today reports that Disney has opened its first official Disney Baby store. So far it only has one location – a mall … Continue reading

Apply to be a Disney Mom (or Disney Dad)

What’s the ultimate goal of many Disney fanatics? See all the films and television shows? Visit all the parks? Work for the company, at one of the parks or even in the movie division? I know for many, it’s the latter. A lucky few are qualified to really work in making magic: to be an animator, or an Imagineer. Many of us just don’t have the skill set to do much. What kind of job could knowing everything about the Disney parks get us? How about a seat on the Disney Moms Panel? You don’t actually get paid to be … Continue reading

Fall Disney Cruise Special Offers

The Disney Parks aren’t the only Disney vacation destinations that give discounts from time to time. The Disney Cruise line has its own special offers page, so today we’ll check out the upcoming deals. One special deal was actually just announced on the official Disney Parks blog. Want to have a unique Halloween that you’ve never experienced before? Take a Disney cruise over the holiday. Cruise ships transform for Halloween (and, presumably, allow all of their passengers to wear costumes). If you travel aboard a Disney ship over Halloween, expect to find: Disney characters dressed up in special seasonal duds, … Continue reading
