Boating and Water Sports at the Polynesian Resortby Lisa P | More from this Blogger 01 Feb 2008 06:34 AM One of the first things that struck me about the Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World was the marina and the amazing variety of watercraft available for rent by resort guests. Deciding whether to stay at the Polynesian Resort and play on the lake all day or to visit one of the Walt Disney World amusement parks is a terrible position to be in. Do yourself a favor and plan to stay an extra day and just play on the water! The marina at the Polynesian Resort has a fleet of both motorized and non-motorized watercraft for rent. You can rent pontoon boats, canopy boats, aquafins, sailboats, or one of the new Water Mouse boats. In case you start dreaming about floating around the lagoon in a pair of floating mouse ears, forget it! The Water Mouse is a two passenger speedboat. The weight limit is 250 pounds and they only allow two people to a boat. This is good clean fun at a great price of only $22 plus tax for 30 minutes. Whatever kind of boat or watercraft that you rent, plan on wearing a life jacket. It is all part of the rental agreement. You'll need to show your resort ID or driver's license in order to rent any watercraft at the marina. Children need to be 12 years old or older to drive watercraft. If you plan to operate one of the sailboats, they do require previous sailing experience. If you are planning to spend the day on the water, allow yourself to sleep in a bit. The Polynesian marina is open daily from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. If the weather turns bad, don't expect to do any boating or swimming. The marina is closed during inclement weather.
