Adventures by Disney Cruise Enhancements

Once again the Disney Cruise line has teamed up with Adventures by Disney to help you make even more out of your Disney vacation. Before, the two created European Port Adventures, where guests on European cruises could follow Adventures by Disney guides on land to see and learn even more of the countries they’re visiting. This time they’re doing something similar, with Alaska. The name is a bit wordier this time, called “Enhance Your Alaskan Cruise with Adventures by Disney.” For anyone familiar with Adventures by Disney, particularly its trips to rural locales, a lot of the activities are going … Continue reading

New FastPass Technology Tested at Disney World

Disney World’s always trying to improve, and one of the big complaints many guests have, at least at certain times of year, is the long lines for rides. That’s why the FastPass system exists: it allows Disney World to offer interested guests shorter wait times while making money off the idea. As part of their constant quest for improvement Disney World is trying to upgrade their FastPass system, according to The Disney Blog. They’re currently testing the next generation of the queue-jumping arrangement in the Magic Kingdom, and it involves RFID. RFID stands for radio-frequency identification, the process of using … Continue reading

Disney’s Easter Specials

Disney might not be throwing as big of a party for Easter as it does for other holidays, like Christmas or Halloween, but there are still a variety of spring holiday events and offers going on this year. The official Disney Parks blog has all the details on the various happenings. First, any Disney World guests this weekend should be pleased to know that the Easter Bunny himself, along with his wife Mrs. Bunny, will be making appearances to greet fans. The Easter Bunny’s actually spent the whole past week at the Magic Kingdom, doing a meet-and-greet at Tour Guide … Continue reading

Adventures by Disney: Urban History

The time has arrived for my final look at Adventures by Disney. It’s fitting that today’s blog features a vacation that takes its guests to Disneyland, among other more urban and historical retreats throughout the United States. To my surprise, there are currently no Adventures by Disney trips to either Disney World or to New York City. I could have sworn that AbD at least went to the latter some point, but for whatever reason that’s not on the table this year. Instead, AbD’s East Coast tour focuses on colonial history, with an 8-day 7-night Mid-Atlantic Family Vacation. Or as … Continue reading

D23 Screenings and Expo

A photo snapped during a tour of the Walt Disney Archives Way back in January I looked at the D23 events planned for the first six months of the year. I promised that once the official Disney fan club posted details on what they had going on for the second half of the year, I’d share. Well, now June has rolled around and I’m trying to make good on my promise. The thing is there really isn’t that much more going on for D23, at least not that’s been announced yet. June 18 sees an already-sold-out screening of the original … Continue reading

D23 in 2011

Recently I wrote of an upcoming D23-sponsered event that didn’t seem to include any special tickets or opportunities for its club members. So now I will highlight what’s on D23’s agenda for 2011. For those not in the know, D23 is the official Disney fan club. I have a post on all the details about it here. After taking a year off to celebrate Disney history with the debut of Destination D, this year’s biggest affair is definitely the return of the D23 expo. Despite its name, the expo is actually open to the public, not just club members. Being … Continue reading
