Limited Time Magic at the Disney Parks

2013 is a big year for the domestic Disney Parks. 2012 saw a lot of change for the both of them, between the reimagined California Adventure and the Fantasyland expansion (the largest in history for the Magic Kingdom). To celebrate, both parks are throwing a party for 2013, called “Limited Time Magic.” One-of-a-kind events will take place at the parks at certain times throughout the year next year. The official Disney Parks blog has a look at some of them. Two follow holidays: Valentine’s and Independence Day. For Valentine’s the Disney Parks are rolling out “True Love,” an event lasting … Continue reading

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Debuts This Month

I said I would bring you more information on Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom when I had it, and now I do and am. The game will open at the Magic Kingdom in late February, and because that’s only few weeks away, more and more and more details are emerging. First the official Disney Parks blog rounds out the story of the game. Players act as Merlin’s apprentice sorcerers. His crystal ball was broken into four pieces, which scattered around the Magic Kingdom. Merlin’s apprentices must race against more than 20 Disney villains to get the pieces back to Merlin … Continue reading

Disney Party Tickets and Animal Kingdom Update

Tickets for two Magic Kingdom holiday events, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, are now available. This information comes via the official Disney Parks blog. Pricing and date information for both events are up at the official post. What’s funny about that, however, is that the article doesn’t contain any links to follow or phone numbers to call to actually book the tickets. All one needs to do, however, is go to the official Disney World pages detailing each event, and one is directed to the purchasing sites from there. Follow the link here for the … Continue reading

A Night at the Magic Kingdom

Many of us had the fantasy as children: we get to spend a night locked in the mall, or zoo, or our favorite amusement park. The details might have differed, but the overall wish remained the same. We wanted to live in whatever counted as our personal wonderland. Now Variety Magazine reports that the Disney Company is planning a film which would play on that very desire. Forget about rides like Pirates of the Caribbean or The Haunted Mansion, it looks like the Magic Kingdom itself might be getting its very own movie. At this point the movie exists in … Continue reading

5 Tips for Surviving the Magic Kingdom in One Day with Little Ones

Good morning to all! I don’t often write in the Disney blog but many of you may know me from my other blogs on this site, or from the forums. You may also know that I have just returned from a vacation to Disney World! This is no small feat as many of you already know: I have five children. Read that to mean, 5 children who love, love, love all things Disney. Some of you may be thinking, “What’s the big deal? So she has five kids!” The big deal is that they are all under the age of … Continue reading

The Magic of the Magic Kingdom ….it’s not just for kids!

I’ll admit to anyone who wants to know – I’m a 100% Disney fan, and don’t think there’s a better place to have a vacation than in one of the Disney World parks. One of my dreams is to take my two boys to the Magic Kingdom before they get to that awkward age when they’re too old to see the magic and too young to appreciate the idea, but at the moment health issues have me banned from long-haul travel. As each birthday passes I wonder if we’re going to make it, or whether they’ll be rolling their eyes … Continue reading

Holidays at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT

It is that time of year. It’s the time of year when Walt Disney World transforms into a magical holiday experience. There are special events at all the theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort, and in Downtown Disney. At the Magic Kingdom theme park, there’s a total holiday extravaganza going on. There’s a new parade, called Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade, and of course the Very Merry Christmas Party that Heather wrote a recent blog about about. Also, there’s a fireworks spectacular every night. There are beautiful holiday decorations all over the park, and this year, “Holiday Wishes: … Continue reading

My Favorite Attractions: Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

I’ve been back to the Magic Kingdom several times over the last 20 or so years. I enjoyed many of the attractions both as a child, a teenager, a young single adult, a newly married wife and on our last trip, a mother of a very eager and excited 4 year old. Over those many visits, I’ve put together a list of ten must see attractions at the Magic Kingdom, which ranks as my favorite of the different theme parks available for visiting during our periodic sojourns to Orlando, Florida. In no particular order, here are my favorite attractions at … Continue reading

A Day at the Magic Kingdom – Tips for Your First Visit

If you’ve never been to Walt Disney World before, your first trip can be somewhat daunting if you’re not sure where to go and what to do. While the parks do provide maps and event details, it can be confusing to the average visitor. So, to save you from hopefully experiencing any more frustration than you really have to (and in order to keep you from asking questions such as, “When is the 3 o’clock parade?”), here are a few tips to help you truly experience the magic. 1. Plan Ahead. Which rides does your family really want to experience? … Continue reading
